ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 15 APRIL 2021

Due t the pandemic, we started to question everything we know right in our lives again… Even our living spaces… The things that we did not realize that they were important to us before, have turned into concepts that we longingly look at from afar and understand their value. We started updating our previous life to start a new life. The difficulties of change manifest themselves at an unexpected moment in our living spaces as in every field.

In this context, the changes in living spaces caused due to difficulties and needs have been and continue to be funny but tragic events. These experiences have led us to a new understanding of space.

The aim of the conference is to reveal the new understanding and perception of space in the pandemic period from the perspective of different disciplines. In this context, the extent to which the perception of space use of indoor, outdoor and public spaces has changed with the pandemic will be discussed. All disciplines will be able to contribute to this issue.

With the change of this spatial perception during the pandemic period, the design problem is to create a new way for new ideas that can be produced in space design, by strengthening the social perception and awareness.

Based on this, it is aimed to organize the Pandemic Paradoxes 2021 Conference at both undergraduate and graduate level, and a comprehensive online international conference to be hosted by the Department of Interior Architecture on 27-28 May 2021. The main theme was determined as Pandemic Paradoxes in this conference, which is aimed to last for two days and aims at a multi-voiced and broad participation academic discussion and sharing. The sub-themes of our conference, which aims to bring together various information, research and evaluation results, and researchers with different perspectives on the same platform where all disciplines can participate, are the Pandemic Era New Space Perception, Pandemic Conditions and Spatial Transformations, Pandemic Conditions and Education, Pandemic and Design, Pandemic Conditions and Psychology, Pandemic Conditions and Society, Pandemic and Open Public Spaces, Pandemic and Old Buildings, Pandemic and Sports, Pandemic and Cultural Heritage, Pandemic and Art, Pandemic and Communication, and Digital Space.

Although all this new perception of the use of space started during the pandemic period, it still continues to exist. It is observed that the relationship of the use of space with all design disciplines and the pandemic period, indicates that the current perception of pandemic space, the discussion environment that desires comprehensive and wide participation, and the publication or a selection derived from the richness of this discussion environment are insufficient.

On the other hand, apart from the conference proceedings, it is planned to turn the selected papers into a national-international publication after the conference, in an effort to create a comprehensive selection. In this context, it is aimed to create a book that will constitute a source for the new concept of space at the undergraduate and graduate level in our country, and will appeal to all design students and professionals who are interested in the field, and yet, in a sense, it will examine the memory of this pandemic paradox and shed light on the discussions for the present and the future. We hope that this study of writing a book, which aims at an academic and intellectual production with wide participation and is planned to be implemented with a collective effort, will bring together the differences, evaluations, researches and innovative perspectives on the perception of the "new place" in the pandemic period, and we expect the participation of academics, scientists and young researchers working on this subject.

Paper acceptance will be accepted both in Turkish and English. Papers will be published in NEUJAF Near East University Faculty of Architecture Journal after random referee evaluation. Papers published by CAMBRIDGE SCHOLARS will only be in English.

PAPA 2021 Conference, which will be held on the digital platform due to the pandemic, is planned to be held on 27-28 May 2021.
